Raggedy Anne: The Silent Guardian
Raggedy Anne: The Silent Guardian
Kirsten Angel-Lambert
Acrylic on wood
"Raggedy, the Silent Guardian" attempts to capture the friction between childhood comfort and the uncanny. Placed on a vintage red chair, Raggedy Ann sits against a brilliant, vibrant yellow background radiating warmth and nostalgic joy. Cutting right through that cheerful palette is the doll's quiet, arresting presence. Her intense, unblinking gaze and fixed painted smile introduce a surreal undercurrent of mystery. I play with the cozy innocence of a childhood memory and the slightly ghostly nature of a toy frozen in time, guarding its own small companions in a silent world.
