Hydrangea and Sweet William
Annie Issa
Collage; watercolor on cut paper
This piece is part of my botanical cutout series. Each work in this series starts out as sheets of flower elements in watercolors which are then cut out in a meditative marathon. I then build each collage using these elements, adding pieces to achieve balance, much like arranging a flower bouquet in real life. Each collage has between 100 and 500 individual pieces.

Artist Bio:
Annie Issa Art and Ceramics is a potter, collage artist and painter working out of South Orange, NJ. In November she will be showing collages and paintings. This work emphasizes color saturation and the beauty of nature while celebrating the meditative state that comes from the mind calming repetition of cutting up lots of small things and gluing them back together again, or blobbing lots of paint on one small canvas.
