Flite Robinson
acrylic paint, spray paint, newspaper collage, printed imagery, paint markers, metallic stars and cross embellishments on canvas.
“What About Us” was inspired by the struggle for Black visibility, belonging and equality within America. Flite Robinson explores the tension between America’s promises and lived experiences, using rapper Juelz Santana wrapped in the flag alongside headlines and graffiti that demand recognition. Layered newspaper collage, expressive paint, stars, and crosses create an urgent, thought-provoking experience, making this piece a powerful focal point for a living room, office or community space.
